ARCHIVED 2021 SEASON
The FRU will be making the following changes to the D4 structure of playoffs and eligibility for the 2021 spring season. These are a result of discussions with club administrators in an effort to create a more level playing field for all teams involved.
- playoffs expansion from 6 teams to 8 teams. If a team that qualifies cannot participate, the highest seeded team will most likely receive a bye. Unchanged from the start of the season is that matches will be paired not entirely on standings in an effort to balance travel and regional play.
- eligibility – a player that starts in a D2 playoff match (first 15) is ineligible for the D4 playoffs. The D2 playoffs take place prior to D4, if there is a reason that a D2 match needs to be moved to the following weekend, then the D2 match will be played first before the D4 match.
- standings – there is the possibility that some teams may play more matches than others because of COVID cancellations. We cannot enforce a forfeit on a team that had a positive covid case, as this would have encouraged teams to play even if they had been exposed. Standings in your division will be calculated based upon win % – if two teams have the same win % then we will move to tiebreakers which include bonus points and head to head, etc

Further Notes
- Eckerd and Ave Maria matches in Fall do not count towards the overall standings of this division they only serve to determine the NSCRO representatives to South Championships in the Fall.
- The Possible Crossover Festival is designed to give team more game if desired, D4 teams need to communicate with us if they wish participate in the festival and then we would look to have D4 team host the event. This event could also be open to other teams to participate.
- The State Championship date will be determined by other schedules (Senior Women’s and/or Men’s FCC) in attempt to co-locate matches together.
- The D4 Division will have special eligibility rules to allow for guest players to play in matches. Details on rosters have been sent to the participating clubs.
